With the release of the Hunger Games prequel The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes, I thought it would be fun to share some of the best Hunger Games party ideas out there! These encompass all of the books before the prequel but now I need to come up with some fun ideas to go with the newest addition to the collection!
Hunger Games Food
There are so many ways that you can incorporate the books into your food since well the books are about food and hunger and all that. These are just some of the more unique ideas that I personally loved. Make anything from the unofficial Hunger Games cookbook. Turn simple cupcakes into Mockingjay inspired cupcakes with modern arrows like these ones. Or make nightlock berry cupcakes like these ones and add a chocolate mockingjay symbol. If you’re a little more advanced baker, try your hand at these amazing flame inspired cupcakes. Add an edible image inspired by Hunger Games directly to your cake or cupcakes. Add these Mockingjay cupcake toppers to cupcakes or anything really. Serve Caesar Flickerman Caesar Salad. Add a tiny drop of edible blood to these amazing President Snow rose cookies. Serve a Hunger Games trilogy cake this one to represent all three books. Serve store-bought Girl on Fire balls to save time. Instead of poisonous nightlock berries, serve these mini berry cakes. Or go for a big cake like this amazing President Snow rose cake. Set up one side of the table with over the top extravagant capitol food and one side with District 12 bare minimum food. Make parachute/sponsored inspired cookies with this great parachute sponsor cookie stamp. Forget braiding hair and make these Katniss braided breadsticks instead.
Hunger Games Party Decorations
There are three main themes when it comes to Hunger Games party decorations – fire inspired, arrow inspired, or capitol vs. district inspired. Pick one and use some of these fantastic ideas to make it come alive. Are you catching all of the puns I’m throwing into this post? Send invitations with these Hunger Games inspired stickers sealing the envelopes. Invite your guests in with flair and this amazing Hunger Games inspired wreath. Use these free printables from Hostess with the Mostess to add some color to your party table. Float these red and orange fire inspired balloons alongside your party table or in your main party room for an “on-fire” effect. Add cute Hunger games quotes to your straw and other fun details with these Hunger Games party printables. Give guests hand stamped arrow silverware. Make a backdrop dedicated to the trilogy with these gorgeous logo pennants. Use red, yellow, and orange streamers to make a backdrop that looks like it’s on fire. Put simple white roses in a vase filled with black water and turned into a may the odds be ever in your favor vase. Use vinyl or scrapbook stickers to make district 12 cups like these ones.
Hunger Games Party Games & Activities
These activities are actually perfect if you want something a little more low-key than an organized game, perfect if you’re hosting something before people go to see the movie together. If you want full on games, there are a bunch of those too. Keep them fun and upbeat to counter the dark and deadly feel of the book. Setup a Cinna Styling station like this one and let people make their own Hunger Games inspired shirts (including free cut files to do so). Play real or not real trivia to see who knows their Hunger Games. Have guests use this awesome guide to find their Hunger Games name. Set up stations themed for each of the different districts and have district activities associated with that district’s major characteristic. Create a dress-up capitol fashions area where guests can get dressed to the capitol nines for the night. Make your own Hunger Games inspired photo booth and props and see who can come up with the most killer photo. Forget anything else and just set up your party based on this Hunger Games inspired murder mystery. Give everyone a gold mockingjay to wear and have people try to stay alive by not saying certain words and losing their pin. Have a station for guests to put on these District 13 arm tattoos. Try out your hand at one of the Hunger Games Training Days with this fun board game. Tell guests to write their name on a slip of paper and put it in the reaping jar in hopes the odds will be in their favor. Have guests try to shake off tracker jackers in this Tracker Jacker Shakeoff game. Cut out paper mockingjay symbols and have people pin them on a picture of Katniss. Give everyone colored dot stickers and have them play tracker jacker tag.
Hunger Games Prize Ideas
And of course you’ve gotta have prizes for your victors. You could give them huge houses and tons of food, but I think these are probably a little more affordable.
