More specifically, fragments from a cable used to clear the processing line were discovered in some of the products. The recalled Walmart mix has the UPC 078742370828, lot code KX2063, and a “Best By Date” of 09/01/2023. An additional item, Kroger Buttermilk Pancake & Waffle Mix, was processed in the same facility and recalled earlier this week due to the same issue. The Kroger mix is packaged in a 2-pound box with the UPC 01111088219 and lot codes KX2063 and KX2064. It has a “Best By Date” of 09/01/2023, and 09/02/2023, respectively. The Kroger mix was distributed in the following 17 states: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Ohio, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia, and West Virginia. No Walmart or Kroger consumers have reported any contaminated product to date, nor have there been reports of any injuries related to either recall. Still, the FDA is urging consumers who have purchased either of the recalled products to dispose of them immediately or to return them to Kroger or Walmart for a replacement or refund.
